Disclaimer: I always wanted to be a baseball player, thus idiotically sacrificing my education along the way. If Grammarly occasionally misses a grammar mistake, yet you still understand the point, keep it moving.
When the New Year’s Eve ball dropped a few weeks ago, I was changing a dirty diaper, thinking to myself, “wow, I’ve lived a whole life this last decade.” See, a decade ago, I was stumbling out of frat parties straight into baseball practice with the smell of cheap Vodka following me like Pig-Pen.
I’ll spare the details and give you a few quick hitters (pun intended) on my journey this past decade.
2010- First frat party at Indiana University
2012- Drafted by the Chicago White Sox.
2015- MLB Debut
2016- Traded to the Dodgers, discovered painting
2017- First art exhibit at Dodger Stadium with the most insane artist duo, Shelby & Sandy
2017- Traded to the Atlanta Braves (the day before my show with the Dodgers, awkward)
2018- Retired
2018- Went to Europe with my girlfriend…9 months later, our daughter Bizzy was born.
2019- Discovered crypto and told everyone about it, duh.
My daughter, being born, was the best part of the decade, but those MLB paychecks are number two. Unfortunately, I was introduced to the casino instead of crypto, and I can confidently report, the house is still undefeated. Sure, I lost some money, but I’m a glass-half-full kind of guy. Had I been a savvy investor, I’d be on a beach sucking down Mai-Tai’s getting my feet rubbed, living off of compounding interest. Instead, I’ve been forced to find alternative revenue streams, which ultimately led me to the crypto world and the beauty that is #cryptotwitter.
I’m by no means Satoshi Nakamoto, and I’m still learning about all the capabilities of blockchain, but for those who only know about Bitcoin and have yet to discover CryptoKitties, let me tell you, it’s the future. I recently released my first digital artwork on SuperRare, which uses the power of the blockchains permanent, can’t be edited, ledger to authenticate works of art. I’ve been able to upload my physical paintings while other geniuses are making art with technology I’m not even going to attempt to spell.
The Arthlete will serve as the translator for those foreign to one of the three passions of mine; sports, art, & tech/crypto. You may be a sports fan and say to yourself, “what the hell is a cryptocurrency.” Or you may be a crypto whale and wonder how I can buy Micah’s art, which in that case, email me, I accept any currency. But all are welcome here!
I’ll also be encouraging transparency and engagement among the respective sectors by highlighting my physical artworks, interviewing guests from each industry, and offering a chance for you all to comment on which physical artworks you’d like to see digitally animated on SuperRare.
Be easy,
Micah
